Night & Light

Moving Light Capture : November 10 : Rexburg, ID : f/2.8 : 8.0 : ISO 80 : tripod : I wasn't sure if my other moving light capture actually fell under the requirements for the assignment so I decided to upload another just in case. I edited this photo in Camera Raw, changed the saturation, blacks, and added an adjustment brush to the front of the photo to brighten the ground.

Light Painting : November 10 : Rexburg ID : f/2.8 : 15.0 : ISO 80 : I tried SO hard to find something I liked for this part of the assignment. I used my phone and tried painting a few different things but nothing worked out. I tried using a lighter and painting things with fire but that didn't work. I finally decided to paint snow flakes, even though I dislike the snow very much. I ended up getting this image. I liked it because I thought the image in the bottom right looked like an insect, fairy, or something else. I also liked the colors that came through. I enhanced the blue and green in Camera Raw but not too much. I also added clarity.

Moving Light Capture/Camera Motion Painting : November 10 : Rexburg ID : f/2.8 : 10.0 : ISO 80 : I wanted to try something different for this assignment so I tried panning my photo. I stood in the middle of the round about, focused on a specific car, and followed it during my shutter. I was able to capture the fore/background also. There were other car lights, street lights, and apartment lights to add to the photo. I edited the photo in raw, changed the exposure, blacks, brights, contrast, and clarity. I also added a adjustment brush to bring more attention to the car.

Camera Motion Painting : November 10 : Rexburg, ID : f/2.8 : 10.0 : ISO 80 : I took this photo by focusing on the apple for 2-3 seconds each. When I uploaded the photo it had blurs between each apple. I edited it in Photoshop, changed the levels, contrast, and brightness. After those edits the apples look separated. It also changed the colors so only one is pure white, which attracts the eye first.

Cutouts

1. Fall or Winter : : November 10 : Rexburg, ID : 4:20 PM : f/4.9 : 1/160 : ISO 80. I was driving past Porter Park and noticed all the trees still had color but were partly covered in snow. I thought it was an interesting portrayal of the fall and winter seasons together. I followed the tutorial given so it was pretty simple.

2. In-n-Out Burger : November 6 : Centerville, UT : 7:15 PM : f/4.0 : 1/160 : ISO 80. I went to Utah over the weekend and went to In-n-Out Burger. I just thought it was a cut out of something that could actually be purchased by a burger lover or something. Cutting out the whole picture entirely turns out better than a partial cut, at least mine did, I think.

Poster

Fall : 24x36 : Rexburg, ID : October 11th : Fujifilm FinePix s100FS : f/2.9 : 1/240

I edited my photo in camera raw. I added saturation, clarity, and contrast. I used an adjustment tool to the bottom leaves and added brightness. There was also a speck on the right barn so I blurred that out as well.

I chose this photo for my poster because it was one of my favorites from the semester. I also decided to use this photo because it is something I would want to put in my apartment. I enjoyed this process, I tried a few different varieties of this photo, this is the one I liked the best. I took this photo when I was driving around Rexburg finding interesting things to capture. I wanted a more interesting angle so I laid on the ground with my camera to get more leaves in the frame. I love fall colors so when I was editing I really wanted to bring the red, orange, and yellow out. That was my main objective, to make it look like a nice fall scene.

Photolusion

Preston : Rexburg, Id : November 1 : f/2.8 : ISO 80 : 1/4 : Canon PowerShot SD 790 IS

I had a hard time thinking of what I wanted to do for my photolusion. I was sitting with my husband and he had just gotten back from playing basketball and then I thought of it! I've wanted to try something like this and this assignment was the perfect opportunity! I did a quick selection of Preston's arm and inserted it into the first original. Then I repeated with the next photo. I blended the arms into his shirt. I then added an overlay to boost the colors and give it more depth.

DVR : Rexburg, ID : October 28 : f/2.8 : 5.0 : ISO 80 : PowerShot SD790 IS

Candle Light : Rexburg, ID : October 27 : f/4.5 : 1/13 : -1.33 exposure : ISO 80 : PowerShot SD790 IS

I changed the background color because I thought it made it more sleek. I tried to change the shape color but I couldn't figure it out. I had so much fun taking a picture each day. It was fun to walk around and be inspired by whatever I saw. I inserted the photos the way the instructions said. I edited using the clipping mask by right clicking the layers palette. I think it's great that we can go back and move the photos and switch them with others. Using a template makes things so much easier rather than making a new page each time.
